Arjun Kapoor was born on June 26, 1985, and is the child of businesswoman Mona Shourie Kapoor and famed Bollywood producer Boney Kapoor. He is the first cousin of actors Sonam Kapoor, Mohit Marwah, and producer Rhea Kapoor. His paternal uncles are actors Anil Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor.
